INVESTING IN GEOTHERMAL ENERGY

As the world strives to curb greenhouse gas emissions and scale up low carbon energy solutions, geothermal power holds tremendous promise as one of the most plentiful and cheapest renewable energy options available.

THE PROCESS

Stage A – Geothermal Rationale

Enabling a renewable baseload energy option for the electricity market.

Geothermal prospects, technology advancements, cost control, grid infrastructure, population, industry and economic factors.

Stage 1 - B1

Desktop studies and mapping. Development of conceptual model integrating temperature, depth and reservoir within work program. Environmental activities, community consultation and cultural heritage. Stakeholders and industry consultation.

Stage 3 - B3

Desktop studies, mapping, sampling, drilling and other activities. Most ranked prospects to be selected for test drilling and evaluation programs.

Stage B – Exploration Approvals

Proposal and submission of Geothermal Exploration Licence Application (GELA). Proposal for environmental activities, community consultation, native title and work program.

Stage 2 – B2

Desktop study, mapping, sampling, geophysics Air /ground, verification of formation drilling.

High graded targets identified from conceptual model and further defined via methods which may include existing well sampling and analysis, airborn/terrestrial surveys, seismic.

Stage C

Advanced prospect testing, resource definition, geothermal lease, plant construction and electricity supply.
